Web Authentication API is about public key-based credentials by web applications, for the purpose of strongly authenticating users.
The first recommended specification was published in March https://www.w3.org/TR/webauthn/
By now, it is supported on Firefox, Chrome. On mobile it is supported on Android (WebView and Firefox for Android).
