Join us on August 11 + Donate so No One Stays Hungry

Hello Love Wins Supporters!
This morning, the Love Wins Food Pantry team distributed about 8 tons of food to 400+ families. We are a little tired but we are energized!
We are writing today with an important update, an invitation, and a request.
Over the last two months, we have been going through important changes and challenges. Inflation has a double impact on the pantry. The food we buy is more expensive, and also more people come to us for assistance because groceries are less affordable. Meanwhile, New York City cut funding to food pantries by about 40% starting July 1. We are not the only food pantry dealing with these problems – many have shut down completely – and you can read more about it in this Gothamist article.
But, the Love Wins Food Pantry team is resilient and creative. We are working on solutions to some of these problems, and we would love to talk with you about it. Please join us for an important community update on Thursday, August 11 at 6:30pm via Zoom. We want to tell you more about the challenges our community faces, some solutions we are trying, and how the community can help. We want to hear your ideas, too! RSVP here.
One way that folks can help is to make a donation to support our work. In the last six weeks, we have spent $8700 on food and gift cards to grocery stores – by far the most we have spent in such a short time. We currently have about $20,000 in the bank, and our goal is to fundraise to double our reserves so that we can remain a reliable and sustainable resource for the community.
So we have two requests:
1) Zoom with us on August 11 at 6:30 so we can have a conversation about how to work together to solve food insecurity in our neighborhoods. RSVP here.
2) Make a gift to support our work through our No One Stays Hungry fundraising campaign.
Thank you all, and see you soon!
