How do we use canned green beans?

Eileen King

Community Kitchen - like most food shelves - has more canned vegetables than we know what to do with. We're chipping away at most of them a little at a time, but the green beans in particular are coming in faster than we can use them up!

Who's got a creative idea for how to make canned green beans taste great, other than the classic Thanksgiving casserole?

If you were to get your hands on some of those breakfast potatoes, or tater tots, some ground beef or turkey, and wanted to chip into the pile of canned corn and cream of soups, tater tot casserole is always an option

Three bean salad is a great option that can use multiple types of canned beans (green beans, yellow wax beans, kidney beans, chickpeas).  The beans are tossed with vinegar and sugar or Italian salad dressing, and sometimes raw onion or raw bell pepper are added for crunch.  It’s actually really refreshing served cold in the summer!
